Strautmann is breaking completely new ground in the construction of its Verti-Mix Double … K fodder mixer. For the first time the company has built a 2-auger vertical fodder-mixer that uses vertical mixing augers of varying diameters.
Strautmann's Verti-Mix Double …. K combines the advantages of the classical vertical fodder mixer (retains the fodder structure, mixes quickly, less wear, lower maintenance costs and lower power requirements), with those of the horizontal mixer (narrow construction, large tyres near the mixing container) in a single machine.
Not only are the mixing augers of different diameters; the ground plate has been adjusted to the diameters of the augers. It is therefore wider in front than at the rear.
Therefore it is possible to fit the mixer's wheels at the rear next to the mixing container so that at the side they are not over the width of the front mixing contours. This means that the width of the vehicle is not increased by the large size of the tyres (325 x 22,5'').
As the axle is not fitted in the centre due to the varying diameter size of the mixing augers but more to the rear, there is always sufficient positive bearing load (> 1 t.). This makes it possible to fit additional drive systems at the rear (cross conveyor or straw-blower) without letting the bearing load become negative.
For this reason the VM Double …. K - models are particularly suitable for farms that need to use small tractors to feed their cattle (sufficient bearing load; very good running characteristics due to the larger tyres). ...

... The advantages of using smaller tractors can be seen in the costs involved in cattle feeding as they reduce diesel consumption, which is becoming more and more important today in view of rising energy costs.
Another advantage of using smaller tractors is the lower power requirement of the VM Double …. K mixer. Trial readings found torque savings of up to 15% with the same mixing characteristics, especially when starting the mixing process, in comparison to former solutions. These torque savings are due to the special construction of the auger and the container.
The special construction of the container of the Verti-Mix Double K also makes it possible to fit the vehicle with discharge doors at the front which place the fodder next to the tyres without driving over it. This solution is especially useful in view of the purchase costs and operational costs of distributing fodder.
To discharge the fodder at the rear a discharge door with cross conveyor in the rear is available. However, this is only possible due to the special weight distribution. A discharge door at the rear (without a cross conveyor) enables the fodder to be placed on the ground behind the wheels so that working on narrow fodder tables causes no problems.
Discharge possibilities comprise cross conveyor in the rear as well as discharge doors front right and/or left. Various combinations and the use of straw blowers for scattering the stock was also used when designing of these vehicles.
The vehicles of the Verti-Mix Double …. K series are available in sizes 12, 15, 18 and 21 m³ and are intended for dairy farms with 75 cows or more.
