Due to continuous cost pressure in dairy farming, Strautmann extends its fodder distribution vehicle programme.
Given declining producer prices for milk and beef, cost-efficient and powerful cattle feeding becomes increasingly important.
Strautmann has been offering fodder distribution vehicles between 10 - 16 m³ for years and has been selling them on a very large scale also on extremely budget-conscious markets such as Australia and New Zealand.
On the occasion of the Agritechnica 2009, the product range will be extended by a "big brother", the FVW 250 with a capacity of 25 m³.
In particular for enterprises keeping up to 300 cows and using only a small variety of fodder components, the fodder distribution vehicle presents an alternative to the fodder mixing vehicle. A lower power requirement compared to the mixing vehicle of the same size category and lower fuel costs during feeding resulting therefrom are the important decision criteria for this customer group and for this kind of feeding.
The FVW 250 is made in modular design. The standard frame and body are connected by means of spare weighing rods. This intelligent design allows the installation of a weighing device at a reasonable price and to offer these machines with front discharge (FVW 250) or rear discharge (FVW 250-H).
The transport floor is completely made of weatherproof wood. In connection with the steel frame structure, this design ensures optimum corrosion protection with maximum stability and excellent hygiene characteristics.
The standard hydraulically powered transport floor is equipped with a two-stage motor, in order to ensure quick, complete empyting. The 4 plate-link chains of the transport floor have a breaking load of 13 t each, which ensures maximum stability. To facilitate maintenance work, the transport floor is tightened from the outside.
The solid metering unit is mounted in a separate casing; this ensures an extremely solid construction and reduces wear. The frame structure is closed on its top, thus guaranteeing extremely clean working.
The standard fodder distribution vehicles of the FVW 250 series are equipped with 3 aggressive metering rollers. In order to improve the mixing effect in case of loading in layers, the machines can be equipped with an optional, additional mixing roller.
A drawbar for top or bottom linkage is available, which can be adapted to the operating conditions by means of a hole pattern. Furthermore, the machine is available as 40 km/h model for grown enterprises.
The FVW 250 is available with 400/60 - 1.5 and 435/50 R 19.5 tyres and is offered at a price from 34,925 € (gross list price).
